Katherine, I am a third grade teacher in New York State, near the Canadian border. We would love to Skype. We could choose a common book and then discuss, like The Lorax. I am open for suggestions. Thanks, Carol

We have organized a Read (and Skype) Across America project at our school from 2/28 until 3/2. If you go to our school website (http://wataugasd.mes.schoolfusion.us), you can see a Google map with markers for the locations of our volunteer readers. We started a little early and had our 2nd graders Read (and Skype) with a 2nd/3rd grade class today in Santee, CA. It was great! All the students were excited to ask and answer questions about where they live too after they listened to the books being read. We plan to continue the project through the end of this school year to see if we can have someone from all 50 states read to our students. We’ll keep updating our map to show our progress. We’ve already begun to talk to some of our volunteer readers about other “skyping” projects we could work on together in the future. We'll post a new form after our busy week of reading next week to ask for more volunteers. If you would like to help us find readers in all 50 states, please email me and I'll let you know when we have the new form posted for volunteer readers. Happy Reading and Skyping!
