Whether for business purposes or social purposes if you want accurate real-time translation and on skype, I suggest you check out the Moka skype plug-in. Through this application you can send translated text messages to your Chinese or Spanish skype contacts. And because you can see both the original and the translated text every time a message is sent, you can learn the language while communicating. In addition, Moka Chat for Skype enables you to send translated SMS text messages using Skype’s built-in text messaging service. ….. By the way, you can download this plug-in from http://www.moka.com.

I would think that there must be a way to track who is posting. It would be nice if students could use Skype

I think we all know the value of what Skype can be in the classroom. The problem is not with teachers, it's with IT personnel who are responsible for the integrity of the network. How can educators make a case to administrators that Skype can run safely on the network? How have schools using Skype handled this situation?

Hi Mjasinski,

I would like to give it a try. Although I use quite a bit of technology. This is my first attempt at Skype. If you are willing to work with a novice, my students and I are up to the challenge.

I teach 8th Grade American History. My students think Skype is just about the coolest thing in the world. They would like to meet another class through skype. I was thinking something along the lines of just having two classess talk for a couple of minutes and getting to know each other. We are currently studying events that led to the American Revolution. If any class would like to skype about those topics that would be great as well. We could have each others class teach each other what they have learned that day or week. We are located in Tallahassee, Fl
